Phase one, MECKOW Aquapur Unit Commissioned in the Eastern Cape Province

27th January 2009

A MECKOW Aquapur unit was installed at an apple factory in the Langkloof area earlier this week. This is the first phase of a social upliftment project, within an apple farming district of the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

After the factory team swiftly and effectively overcame some minor challenges the MECKOW Aquapur was installed and commenced its task of purifying the raw input water through its unique and innovative filtration process.

In the initial phase the MECKOW Aquapur will stay on the factory site with access for the staff employed in the vicinity. This will enable the management to monitor the health and social benefits brought by the MECKOW Aquapur, to its workforce and their families.

An interesting point in respect of this installation is that the raw water supply is from the factory. This water has been used to wash the apples prior to the juice making process, it then goes through a basic filter process to bring the water up to the standard for disposal into the natural watercourse BUT instead of throwing this water down the drain it is now fed to the MECKOW Aquapur, purified and brought up to Potable water standard for the local community to use. This is an excellent example of Good Water Management.

This plan will be executed strictly in accordance with municipal and national guidelines and overseen by the local municipality.

The addition of the MECKOW Aquapur will herald a significant improvement to the quality of drinking water available to the community and is a large step in the right direction to improving the health of all.

The MECKOW Aquapur, a simple solution to a complex problem.
