MECKOW Aquapur Technical Information
Patent Number GB2412115
Installation
- The MECKOW Aquapur requires NO specialist skill for installation or routine maintenance
- Maintenance involves simply removing the primary filters, before washing and replacing them. The HTH Chlorine used for purifying the water are readily available world-wide, the frequency of replenishment being dependent on the quality of the source water
The MECKOW Aquapur weighs just 200 Kilos and measures 1.0m x 1.0m x 1.5m. Which means that:
- It can be carried by four men using the carrying hooks at each corner
- Transport on a flat bed truck or pick-up is easily undertaken
- The robust, compact shape means that it can easily be air-lifted by helicopter in emergency and military situations - and relocated as required in a matter of hours
- The MECKOW Aquapur should be placed on a solid level base measuring 1.2m x 1.2m x 1.7m. This may be constructed of concrete cement or brick, or alternatively any base which is free from risk of subsidence. It may be secured on a vehicle such as a pick-up or suitable trailer, provided that the water source being used is able to flow freely

Water Test Data
Stringent tests were undertaken using the PALLcheck Luminometer Microbial Monitoring System to evaluate MECKOW Aquapur on several different types of contaminated water.
Results are given below for six different kinds of sample water all treated by the MECKOW Aquapur system.
Using the PALLcheck "bioprobe" the total bioburden was tested before and after treatment. Treated water was taken either after filtration and chlorinisation OR after a further stage of filtration after passing through the system’s activated carbon stack (optional).
United Kingdom Domestic tap water was used as a control.
| Water Type | Overall RLU's | Chlorinated Water | Activated Carbon Treated Water |
|||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sensitivity | Higher | Lower | Higher | Lower | Higher | Lower |
| UK Domestic Tap Water (Control) | E1 | E2 | - | - | - | - |
| Stagnant Gulley Water | E3 | E4 | E1 | E2 | E1 | E1 |
| Polluted Running Stream Water | E4 | E6 | E2 | E3 | E1 | E2 |
| Roadside Ditch Water | E4 | E5 | E2 | E3 | E1 | E2 |
| Land Drainage Water | E3 | E4 | E1 | E2 | E1 | E1 |
| Duck - Pond Water | E3 | E4 | E1 | E2 | E1 | E1 |
| Stagnant Water Near An Industrial Unit | E3 | E4 | E1 | E2 | E1 | E2 |
The MECKOW Aquapur dealt with all the water types tested producing potable water in every case.
Further tests were conducted on "Road Side Ditch Water" to evaluate the microbial contaminants before and after treatment.
| LL* | EXT & LL** | |
|---|---|---|
| Roadside Ditch Water | E2 | E4 |
| Treated With Chlorine | E2 | E2 |
| Treated With Chlorine and Activ. Carbon | E2 | E1 |
* - Level of free ATP
** - Level of free ATP and microbial contamination ATP
Terms
- RLU's - Relative Light Units (Proton/Sec)
- E1 - High Quality UK Domestic Tap Water
- LL - Luciferin Luciferase
- EXT - Reagent
- ATP - Adenosine Tri Phosphate
By testing for free ATP, these tests again show how the MECKOW Aquapur has the ability to reduce effectively the microbial contamination found in the very dirtiest of the water sample tested.
